Japan Sourcing & Editorial— Drop This Saturday at 6PM
2 weeks ago we returned from a sourcing trip through Tokyo and Osaka, where we focused on finding standout secondhand and vintage pieces for the shop.
Japan’s resale scene is unmatched — the attention to detail, preservation, and quality across thrift shops and flea markets makes it one of the best places in the world to source. We visited both the Tokyo Race Flea Market and the Osaka Flea, each offering something different: Tokyo was fast-paced and packed with rare designer finds, while Osaka had a more local, low-key feel with just as many hidden gems. We were able to secure a range of pieces from sought after domestic Japanese labels including Issey Miyake, COMME des GARÇONS, Yohji Yamamoto, Needles, Undercover, Porter, and Hysteric Glamour — along with a mix of vintage graphic tees, outerwear, and denim.

A Brief Look at the Brands: Issey Miyake Known for innovation in fabric and form, Issey Miyake’s work blends technology with movement and wearability. The Pleats Please line and his A-POC concept pushed the boundaries of how clothing is made and worn.
COMME des GARÇONS Founded by Rei Kawakubo in 1969, CdG is known for its avant-garde silhouettes, deconstruction, and anti-fashion approach. It’s a label that constantly challenges conventional ideas of beauty and structure.

Yohji Yamamoto Renowned for his flowing black silhouettes and tailoring that blurs gender lines, Yohji has remained a quiet force in fashion since the ’80s. His work is poetic, restrained, and rooted in craftsmanship.

Needles A cult label from the Nepenthes group, Needles blends Americana with Japanese streetwear. Its Rebuild by Needles and signature track pants have become staples in the archive and streetwear worlds alike.

Undercover Jun Takahashi’s Undercover merges punk, high fashion, and graphic-heavy storytelling. It’s a label with a strong point of view — dark, conceptual, and often tied to music or subcultural commentary.
Porter Porter by Yoshida & Co. has been producing high-quality bags in Japan since 1962. Built with military-grade precision, its focus is on function, durability, and timeless design.
Hysteric Glamour Rooted in 1960s and ’70s counterculture, Hysteric Glamour mixes vintage American pop iconography with bold graphics and irreverent design. Think retro, rock ’n roll, and loud prints.
The Shoot To highlight this collection, we shot a small editorial just after returning to Vancouver. We wanted the photos to reflect the spirit of the trip — grounded, minimal, and focused on texture and detail. Shot in natural light with simple styling, the goal was to let each piece speak for itself. The clothes already carry so much history and design intention — we didn’t want to overdo it.
The result is a quiet, considered look at a collection we’re proud to share. You’ll see some of the photos roll out over the week across our platforms, with the full set dropping alongside the collection.
The Japan Collection goes live Saturday, June 28 at 6PM on our website. All items are one-of-one, handpicked, and available in limited quantities. Thanks for following along and supporting what we do.
